Saltline shows surf, boating and fishing conditions, and (with a Pro account) lets you share check-ins, plans and catches with friends. We collect as little as we can and never sell your data. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how to delete it. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles (Privacy Act 1988).
Your device location is used on your device to pick the nearest region and the matching skyline. It is not sent to us. When you check in or plan a session you choose a named spot (for example "Snapper Rocks"); we store that spot name, not your GPS position.
If you create an account we store your email address (to send you sign-in links), display name and handle.
Check-ins (expire after 4 hours), planned sessions, catches and catch photos. You choose who sees each one: friends only (default) or everyone on Saltline. Blocked users can't see your posts. Reports you make are stored so we can review them.
If you turn on push alerts we store your device's push token and your alert settings (region, minimum rating, muted spots) so we can notify you.
Some pages show a card from a local sponsor. We count how many phones see each card per day and how often it's tapped, so we can report totals to the sponsor. These counts contain no personal information or device identifiers.
If you sign up on our website, we keep your email address (and when you signed up) only to send you Saltline news. We don't share or sell it. To unsubscribe, use the link in any newsletter or email us and we'll delete it.
Subscriptions are handled by Google Play or the Apple App Store (via RevenueCat). We receive confirmation of your subscription status, never your payment details.
Weather, wave, wind, radar and satellite data are fetched from public providers (Open-Meteo, Queensland Government, Bureau of Meteorology, the radar provider and NASA). These requests contain no personal information.
You can delete your account at any time in the app (Mates → Account → Delete account). This permanently deletes your profile, check-ins, plans, catches, photos and friend list. Turning off alerts or uninstalling the app removes your push token from our service.
Saltline's social features are not intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
